Many Proposals Are Passed In The 6th Executive Committee of the 61st Round Of PCT General Assembly

Reported by Lin Yi-yin

On March 21, the 6th meeting of Executive Committee of the 61st round of PCT General Assembly was held at the General Assembly Office. Many would-be members of the 62nd Executive Committee were invited to attend as observers, as this was the last Executive Committee meeting of the 61st round of General Assembly.

Many proposals were passed after a detailed review or discussion in this last meeting of Executive Committee of the 61st round of PCT General Assembly, including a new appointment of associate general secretaries, secretaries of many PCT ministry committees, and chief executive officer of Ministers in Service and Retirement Welfare Committee; an appointment of Rev Chen Yu-fen(UK) and Rev Lee Jeh-ren(Japan) as the overseas missionaries in B category; the signature of an cooperative evangelical agreement in Sarawak with the Methodist Church In Malaysia; the protocol of donation and organization of the abroiginal church in PCT; the 2016 financial statement of PCT; the So-san Presbytery’s re-iterated opposition of gay marriage; sanction of the board members at Chang Jung Christian University(CJCU) due to their illegal claim of PCT’s property and outrageous breach of the PCT establishment and statues.

Regarding the sanction of those infringing board members at CJCU, many were only declared with the slightest punishment – suspension of their right as PCT pastor or member – based on articles 123, 124, and 125 of PCT Administrative Act. According to a special PCT task force of Fair Treatment on CJCU event since 2007, these disobedient PCT members are as follows: Rev Chao Cheng-er of Chayi Presbytery, Mr Su Chin-an of Barclay Memorial Church at Tainan Presbytery, Mr Hwang Ren-chun of Zion Church at Tainan Presbytery, and Mr Wei Jeh-tao of Tien-mu Church at Taipei Presbytery.

As to the cooperative agreement with the Methodist Church In Malaysia, initially PCT plans to held some short-term evangelical mission in Sarawak about once or twice annually. As Central Bunun Presbytery has engaged in the evangelical ministry in Sarawak for many years, PCT also decided to send Evangelist Funan Dipan an Elder Chuan Wen-ho to stage in the Sarawak Mission Center in order to facilitate this south-bound mission.
