Ministry For Prevention Of Drug Abuse Is Urged By Pingtung Presbytery

Reported by Lin Wan-ting

On March 25, a seminar on the prevention of drug abuse, organized by Church and Society Committee of Pingtung Presbytery and Operation Dawn Taiwan, was held at Ming-ho Presbyterian Church of Pingtung Presbytery. Mr Jiang Ming-fu, a police officer of Criminal Investigation Corps of Pingtung County Police Bureau, was specially invited to deliver a speech to the audience about the threatening status of drug abuse and its pernicious impacts to the juvenile and young generation in current Taiwan society.

Members of Operation Dawn Taiwan, a renown Hong Kong based Gospel Rehabilitation Organization for drug and alcoholic addicts since 1984, were also invited to sing the praise and hymns and share personal witness of reclaiming a free life from drug addicts through a 18 months’ evangelical counselings based on biblical teachings.

Rev Huang Mei-li, general secretary of Pingtung presbytery, called the church to be aware of the seriousness of drug abuse in Taiwan society and help our communities to be alert about this invisible durg war and gain a positive and healthy life for them.
