A Strategic Alliance Forged Between Two Christian Hospitals To Serve Southern Taiwan
Reported by Simon Lin
“We wish to contribute our efforts in the areas lack of resources, like southern Taiwan, in order to help those people in need. And this is the mission of Changhua Christian Hospital(CCH)”, remarked Dr Kuo So-ren, Superintendent of CCH, at a strategic alliance meeting with Heng Chun Christian Hospital(HCCH) on October 3.
This medical alliance intends to launch a mutual cooperation between these two Christian hospitals in the fields, like medicare service exchange, administration, information, education and training, offers more medicare services to inhabitants and tourists at Heng Chun peninsular and attract more investment to build A Grand Healthy Town to serve the elder people.
This history-breaking alliance is triggered by a January visit of HCCH officials to Taitung Christian Hospital(TCH), whose hospital performance and management delivered a striking progress after a innovative cooperation with CCH to induce and exchange the information system of medicare srvice. An evangelical heart to share and exchange good news not only improve TCH but also bring in a bigger project to benefit HCCH and the people on this southern peninsula of Taiwan.
Dr Chen Jeh-cheng, superintendent of HCCH, expressed his deep appreciation for CCH’s medical and administrative support to HCCH as a community hospital located at the distant southern Taiwan, especially at a time when HCCH’s medical staff are in a great shortage. In the past sixty years, initiated by several Finland medical missionaries and supported by many native churches, HCCH will carry on serving the local residents in the spirit of Christ, Dr Chen pledged.
Rev Chen Hsin-liang, chairman of CCH, expressed that the motto of CCH’s founder, Dr David Landsborough, as “seeing our responsibility in the needs of our neighbors” is always the spirit of CCH. Retrieving a humble yet honorable medicare service at her 121 anniversary, CCH will carry on Dr Landsborough’s teaching to preach and share Chris’s love with the needy into far distant areas, Rev Chen remarked.
