Copying the Bible Help Migrant Indonesian Sisters Find Joy and Peace in Christ
Reported by Lin Wan-ting from Kaohsiung
In 2025, Ki-Au Church of Kaohsiung Presbytery starts the of “Copying the Bible”, and participants are regularly invited to share their experiences after their reading and copying the Bible. The latest assembly, sharing the experiences in Copying the Bible, was held with a love feast in the eve before Thanksgiving Day on November 17.

Remarkably, a group of migrant Indonesian sisters not only participated in Copying the Bible, but also grew significantly in members, church services, and etc. To support and meet the spiritual demands of these Indonesian sisters, the church decided to upgrade and rename the group as “Indonesian Sister Fellowship” in 2026.
In addition to migrant Indonesian sisters, Rev Wu Chi-he, pastor of the Ki-Au Church, said that there were also Vietnamese sisters invited to attend the sharing assembly of Copying the Bible. With adequate care and long-term companionship, he looked forward to establish a Vietnamese sisters group in future.
Alluding King David’s grandmother Ruth was a “migrant woman” in ancient Israelis history, Rev Wu reported, some brothers at the sharing assembly predicted that Taiwan could elect a president descended from migrant forebears one day. He also sincerely wished those migrant Indonesian sisters who came to Taiwan in all walks of life to be abundantly blessed with joy and peace.
An Indonesian sister shared that Copying the Bible indeed helped her make progress in reading POJ. In addition, she also bought a copy-practice-manual for a non-Christian colleague to practice reading and copying the Bible. She said, “my colleague also feels copying the Bible does bring her a lot of good, so she copies it every day and even carries on to write down the biblical verses during her travel out of town. “
Her colleague’s personal story to copy the Bible strenuously inspired her enormously. She hoped that her colleague could believe Jesus on day and then come back to church to witness her wonderful pilgrimage story.

Some elderly members had also finished copying some biblical verses. Except paying thanksgiving to brothers and sisters for their heartfelt warm encouragement, these elderly humbly said what they wanted do is to copy the Bible more and then join into various ministries to serve the church.
Members of the praise-exercise-group gave their thanksgiving to Mrs Lee Lih-wen, spouse of pastor, for her careful planning and wonderful services: for example, enabling elderly brothers and sisters through activities of praise-via-singing and exercise-for-health, refreshing their spiritual lives by reading the scriptures, and training them to share to each other and pray to Lord Jesus Christ.
Some timid elderly members were therefore able to share and pray openly after frequent practices of singing, exercises and copying the Bible; some elderly sisters, even though having attended the church for decades, shared their great joy to learn what Bible actually said for the first time after attentively copying the Bible.
After receiving wonderful witness like clouds in the sharing assembly, some sisters were greatly touched to say “ we can come to seek the comfort from God through kinds of occasions: whether it is singing hymns, dancing in praise or copying the Bible, God speaks to His beloved children through various ways.”
Mrs Lee Lih-wen admitted that she was the kind of person, fond of ”silently standing behind the stage” and very reluctant to become a leader. But God still called her to offer services at various occasions to serve the church.
This year, she was asked to lead the Indonesian Sister Group to sing the hymns in church service. Facing many problems, such as church choir members were not enough, arrangement of appropriate hymns and etc., Mrs Lee was once very much puzzled. But, through her earnest prayer to seek solution, she was very pleased to see Indonesian Sister Group finally work closely with church choir to sing the hymnal and praise in Sunday service.

After these practical challenges, Mrs Lee was reminded the biblical verse of Joshua 1:9: “I hereby command you: Be strong and courageous! Do not be frightened or dismayed; for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” She therefore affirmed that every challenge is a reminder from God to shows His abundant blessings.
Meanwhile, Mrs Lee stressed the importance of “reading the scriptures together”. She believed “each person’s understanding of the Bible is limited, but if it is a group of people to read and share the scripture, this can form a spiritual blessing from the Word of God.“
“Ki-Au Church is very appreciated to all elder, deacon, and church member serving in kinds of ministries, for example: Indonesian Sisters Groups, praise-exercise, Copying the Bible and etc. Sincerely we hope to invite more friends to come and build up their spiritual communion,” said Mrs Lee.
“Reading the Bible is a must for Christian,”said Mrs Lee, “without the Word of God and prayer to Him, how can we tell the mind of God?” She encouraged brothers and sisters who had attended the event of Copying the Bible to carry on and call more people to receive the amazing grace from God.
