Changhua Christian Hospital Celebrates its 130h Anniversary of Medical Mission with Praising Choirs

Changhua Christian Hospital(CCH) celebrated its 130th anniversary of medical mission in the thanksgiving service, named “Glory to God for walking with us in a centenary medical mission”, held in the David Landsborough International Conference Hall in the evening on August 7. In addition to the choirs from various CCH branch hospitals, many local church choirs of Changhua Presbytery were also invited to praise and celebrate the significant event.
Rev John Chao, director of CCH Chaplaincy Department, said at the opening service that because of the founding missionaries, like Dr David Landsborough III and Rev Campbell Naismith Moody, whose loyal preachings of the gospel to the people in central Taiwan with expertise medical treatment and enthusiastic missionary service, now many people can enjoy the joy and grace from the kingdom of God. He stressed that this is not only a history of the mission, but also a ground-breaking good news with sacrificing love to bless Taiwanese lives and cultures for centuries to come.

Rev Bing Cheng-long, chairman of CCH management board, pointed out that the churches praised God’s grace with hymns were blessed to witness His amazing companion with CCH for 130 years. “I hope all churches in the central Taiwan shall carry on to work closely with CCH in medical mission and many other ministries to preach the gospel of God’s salvation to serve more people,” he said.
In his speech on behalf of the PCT General Assembly, Rev Liu Der-hsing, vice moderator of PCT General Assembly, said that his great-grandfather had been well treated by Dr David Landsborough III more than a hundred years ago. “I am deeply touched to see CCH doctors and staffs humbly kneeling down to treat, heal and walk with the patient’s family to believe in God,” he said.
Rev Liu encouraged all CCH staffs not to work as an employed worker, but serve as an evangelical missionary, “let’s always give our thanksgiving to God leading us from a medium clinic to such a grand hospital consortium today. We are all witnessing one amazing miracle together – that is the spirit of washing feet each other as the amazing miracle of love.”

Dr Chen Mu-kuan, superintendent of CCH, thanked the church choirs and the all branch hospital choirs to participate in this celebration and brought beautiful and touching hymns. “Through the praise and worship today, we are witnessing God is love. May God bless abundantly to all colleagues and congregation with happiness and peace.”
The participating hospital choirs came from CCH general hospital and brach hospitals, including Han-Ming, Nan-Tou, Yuan-Lin, Er-Lin, Yun-Lin, Lu-Kang, Lu-Dong and other fellow Christian hospitals. The Changhua Presbytery’s church choirs, invited to attend the service, include the churches of Her-Mei, Yong-Fu, David Landsborough Memorial, Bai-Shah, Mei-Guang, Chong-San, Lu-Kang, Chang-Shan and many other churches.
