Boys, Be Ambitious! Let Taiwan Stand Up

The 12th round of Taiwan Youth Workshop For UN, organized by The Taiwan United Nations Alliance(TAIUNA), was held at Our Lady of Providence Girls High School in New Taipei City from July 27 to 29.
Dr Michael Tsai, as the president of TAIUNA, an elder of Justice Action Church of PCT’s Taichung Presbytery and a former defense minister, was invited to deliver an opening speech to those youth workshop members.
Dr Tsai reminded the audience several evident geo-political facts and strategic relations among China, USA and Taiwan: Taiwan does not belong to China; it conforms to US’s national interests that Taiwan won’t be annexed by China; US want to help secure Taiwan’s self-defense and will not give up Taiwan.
Tsai also explained the major difference between US’s “One China Policy” and China’s “One China Principle”: US recognizes the People’s Republic of China as the only legitimate country representing China, while just acknowledges – not recognizes – PRC’s claims of owing Taiwan’s sovereignty.
Dr Tsai said the always asked question, why the US government inclined to keep silent and not to clarify the semantics between “One China Policy” and China’s boasting of “One China Principle” to the world, was due to the so-called “China factor” wishing to keep a fuzzy space for complicated diplomacy.
Rev Lo Rong-kwan, general secretary of TAIUNA and former general secretary of PCT, urged the youth in Taiwan to join social movement of UN For Taiwan, Peace Forever. Seeing the unbelievably difficult facts Taiwan still does not belong to any international significant bodies, like United Nation(UN), World Health Organization(WHO), World Bank Group(WBG), World Meteorological Organization(WMO) and etc., Taiwan’s bid for UN membership need new blood to carry on this long-term struggle in a spirit of marathon!
