Youth’s Summer Retreat Held At Peng-Hu Islands To Learn More About Local Cultures And God’s Creation

Reported by Huang Chong-chien

In order to encourage church youth make good use of their summer time, and to know God more from His amazing creation in nature, Kwei-Ren Presbyterian Church held a summer retreat for church youth at Peng-Hu islands from August 1 – 3.

Started from Yuan-Bay isle of Peng-Hu islands, the youth personally experienced a totally different living of fishermen on the challenging ocean at day one of their retreat.

Burning sun, salty water and tough jobs on the fishing boat compelled these youth to step out of their comfort zone, and offered opportunity for youth to understand how people live with the nature in such a marine ecology and meditate further on the relationship between personal self and God the creator.

In the night, though tired and exhausted after a day time’s busy activities, the youth still happily studied the Bible together and shared their thoughts openly as they all deeply appreciated the words of Jesus: “One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”(Matthew 4:4)
