Mr Yao Wen-Chih Visits PCT To Brief His Vision Of Taipei City

Reported by Lin Chia-jin

In the afternoon on September 5, Mr Yao Wen-chih, a DPP candidate for Taipei City Mayor, visits General Assembly Office of PCT and delivers his vision of Taipei as Taiwan’s capital and an important global metropolis. Mr Yao asks all PCT members, expressing their solid stance for a new and independent Taiwan since 1970s, to stand behind his vision at this significant campaign for Taipei City.

Mr Yao emphasizes Taipei should not be called “Chinese Taipei”. This name is terribly wrong and tragic, he says, adding that many Taipei citizens still have a fuzzy and confused vision of Taipei City as Taiwan’s capital. Witnessed in recent events of China’s hegemony, like 85°C Cafe’s cowardice to China, China’s blunt cancellation of East Asian Youth Games and Mayor Ko Wen-tze’s flattery language to appease China and etc, Mr Yao says it’s the reasons why Taipei should stand up to speak and act as Taiwan’s capital city.

Quoting Rev Kao Chung-ming’s famous lines, “Do not be afraid, as Jesus walks ahead!”, PCT General Secretary Rev Lyim Hong-tiong encourages Mr Yao keep calm and carry on his ideals to fight for Taipei City. Even though there are kinds of challenges and difficulties lying ahead in the campaign, similar to PCT’s dream to build a new and independent country for Taiwan, we have nothing to fear as we firmly believe Jesus walks ahead, says Rev Lyim.
