From June 12 to 14, Southern California Taiwanese Presbyterian Conference (SCTPC) held a retreat at Calvary Chapel Conference. This retreat, which was entitled as “Light Up The Flame Of The Mission”, attracted more than 300 people to attend.

To commemorate and express thanksgiving for PCT 150, Rev. Dr. Tung Chun-lan, the New Testament Professor of PCT’s Yu-shan Theological College and Seminary, was invited as the keynote speaker introducing the pioneering ministries of early missionaries, like Dr. James Laidlaw Maxwell and Rev. George Leslie Mackay, and finally in a Macedonian Call, urging the audience to succeed the missionary spirit and carry on proclaiming the Kingdom of God to the world.

Several renown guests, including Rev. Sudu Tada, Vice Moderator of PCT General Assembly; Dr. Victor Wan-chi Hsu, Associate General Secretary of PCT; Dr. Albert J. F. Lin, a prominent human rights activist, were all invited to take part into this retreat.

Four special lectures were also arranged to discuss the missionary impact on Taiwan’s medicare, education, social welfare and democracy. The legendary stories of early missionaries were commemorated through musics, witness and drama in Saturday night’s programs. At the final day, June 14, there was a Sunday service and communion held to end this abundant spiritual feast.
