Seeing The Great Commission, Tayal Presbytery To Set Up An Overseas Missionary Network

Reported by Simon Lin

As many churches of PCT’s Tayal Presbytery had engaged in overseas missions for decades, Rev Kuo Ching-ming, director of mission committee of Tayal Presbytery, convened ten such Tayal churches together on May 1 in order to learn their different missionary experiences and build up a platform to share and integrate the resources. Rev Yabu Eyo, General Secretary of Tayal Presbytery, remarked that most Tayal churches’ overseas missions had been done individually in the past. Based on an organizational framework of Tayal Presbytery, Rev Yau Eyo urged the leaders of Tayal Presbytery to build these separate ministries into a special network to serve more churches domestic and abroad.

Elder Chan Yin-fen of Han-hsi Presbyterian Church reported her church’s three missions for local congregations among the Presbyterian Church in Malaysia since August 2015; Rev Rimuy Hayon of May-hua Presbyterian Church shared her church’s short-term evangelical ministry into Kupang area of Indonesia’s West Timor; Elder Liu Ma-ly of Wu-fong Presbyterian Church told the wonderful story how their young men saw the vision of the church as a missionary church after an evening prayer meeting in 1996 and what their overseas missions had achieved for the Akkah people in the golden triangular area of northern Thailand since then; Rev Mintang Yukan shared his vision of preaching good news to the minority via the minority last year and the story of the first female missionary had been sent to serve the Miao people at rural areas of Yunan Province in China since 2016; Rev Lee Pao-seng of Zhe-kwang Presbyterian Church reported his 15 years of missionary works in China and the inspirational ministry cooperating with the house churches in Shanghai City.

As there are going to be 18 eligible pastors and evangelists in Tayal Presbytery this year, including two evangelists to be graduated from the seminary soon, Rev Yabu Eyo expressed that he would both negotiate with PCT General Assembly to support sending two Tayal missionaries to Malaysian areas and discuss with Tayal local churches experienced in overseas mission to send these brave Tayal missionaries abroad.
