Mission Seminar Of “One-Leads-One, New Doubling Movement” Held In Pingtung Presbytery

Reported by Lin Wang-ting

In the afternoon on June 18, Pingtung Presbytery held her first ever mission seminar for “One-Leads-One, New Doubling Movement” at Wondan Presbyterian Church. Rev Huang Hsu-cheng, pastor of Su-lin Presbyterian Church of Chi-hsin Presbytery was specially invited to share his experiences in how to set up and strive for the missionary goals in this PCT movement. Except two churches were unable to show up, over 200 PCT representatives of almost all local congregations of Pingtung Presbytery had attended the seminar.

Rev Liu Chu-en, pastor of Kam-ding Presbyterian Church and moderator of Pingtung Presbytery, advised the audience that preaching good news does not depend on playing fashionable new tricks, but make people loyal to the faith that changed their lives. In other words, it is no need to keep attracting the people into the church without proper measures to keep them stayed, Rev Liu said.

During the discussion of the seminar, some church representatives raised the question: why the church did not grow at all even though many church ministries had been done for the communities? On this question, Rev Huang responded that it is critical for the church to have a serious self-check and reflection: what are the real demands of our communities? how to meet these demands through ministries? and etc. in order to preach the good news to
different social groups through learning and practices, the evangelical mission of church needs to care for our partner church and offer disciplinary training for the believers, Rev Huang remarked.
