PCT General Assembly recently wrote a letter of support to Church of Christ in Thailand (CCT), whose country is facing the worst flooding in 50 years. It also sent a small delegation to Thailand to get a first-hand account of the situation on the ground and so as to better prepare for post-flood rebuilding aid.

Having faced severe flooding in 2009 during Typhoon Morakot, PCT has first-hand experience in managing such natural disasters and it has already asked all of its member churches to remember Thailand in their prayers and in through their offerings.

PCT General Assembly Moderator, Chiohh Lyiam Syian, said that as soon as PCT heard that severe flooding had devastated Thailand, it sent a letter of solidarity to CCT and also got hold of PCT missionary in Thailand, Lin Jen-san, to ensure that church officials in Taiwan received the latest updates of the flood.

PCT has sent small delegation comprising of General Assembly Vice-Moderator Rev.Pusin Tali, Associate General Secretary Lyim Hong-tiong, and Church and Society Committee Secretary Huang Che-yen to Thailand on November 3-6, 2011. They will meet with Lin Jen-san and CCT General Secretary Sayam Muangak to discuss rebuilding and outreach efforts.

PCT Youth Ministries Committee also expressed their encouragement and concern to youths from Church of Christ in Thailand. Many PCT and CCT youths have become friends after spending a few weeks together during “I Love Taiwan” Mission camp earlier this year. According to the committee, CCT youths also showed an outpouring of support soon after Typhoon Morakot in 2009 which devastated several areas of Taiwan.
