Seniors in north and south Taiwan celebrate Christmas in churches

Reported by Chiou Kuo-rong and Chen Yi-hsuan

This Christmas season, several senior fellowships in various PCT churches in Taipei area decided to have a joint-Christmas celebration. The event, a service that took place on December 10, 2010, drew seniors from at least 7 local PCT churches.

Besides chimes performances, song presentations, and sign language song presentations, the most inspiring part of the service was perhaps the unmistakable feeling of “Immanuel” – God with us – felt throughout the service.

Yungkuang Presbyterian Church’s pastor, Rev. Chou Hsin-jung, was the speaker of the night. He said that Christ’s descension to be with the human race and empathize with humanity’s weaknesses is a blessing too big and wonderful to keep within Christian homes or churches during Christmas.

He urged his audience to go back to their own churches and encourage their church friends to invite neighbors and non-Christians to church during this Christmas season so that the true meaning of Christmas can be understood throughout Taiwan.

In Tainan area, Tainan Presbytery held its seasonal staff meeting followed by a Christmas service on December 11, 2010. The service attracted more than 400 seniors from various PCT churches in Tainan area. Following the service, which included many song presentations from various senior fellowships, there were some refreshments to encourage people to stay and fellowship with one another.
