Taiwan Religious Leaders Attend The First Ever Inter-Religion Communion Meeting
Reported by Lee Hsin-ren
On Novermber 10 & 11, the first ever Inter-Religion Communion Meeting of Taiwan Religious Leaders was held at Tai-tung. Fifty-four representatives from twelve religions across Taiwan were invited to address the main subject of this meeting – Respect and understand the differences and diversities among the religions in Taiwan; Cherish our communion and facilitate mutual communication – via the method of OST(Open Space Technology) proposed by PCT to enhance the solidarity and efficiency of meeting and action within the organization.
Taiwan Conference of Religion and Peace(TCRP), as the main organizer of this first ever meeting among Taiwan’s religious leaders, was established in 1994 with a purpose to promote dialogues and understanding among different religions in Taiwan. In order to dig deep into inter-religion dialogues and work for peace within Taiwan society, religious leaders were thus invited to participate at this first ever meeting, said Master Chin Yau, president of TCRP.
Rev Cheng Chun-ping, secretary of PCT’s Youth Ministry Committee, led many other religious leaders of this meeting to go through various issues, like “‘Religion and Politics”, “How to Respond Same-Sex Marriage and Multiple-Person Family System”, “Protect Family Values”, “Religious Communion and Cooperation”, “Promote Cross-Strait Religious Interaction”, and etc., via the method of OST, which had been applied in PCT for years and proved to be efficient enough in a free and open dialogue, enabling the participating members to freely express their thoughts, reach a consensus and deliver a feasible solution.
After Rev Cheng’s moderation of the meeting via OST, many religious leaders became very interested to learn more about this method to help their organizations deliver a consensus in efficiency. And this is a positive contribution of PCT to enhance peace and communion across Taiwan in a very amazing way!
