After spending her two days’ weekend from September 13 to 14 to visit two historical PCT churches, one is Tan-Sui Church of Taipei Presbytery and the other as Hsi-Meng Church of Jiayi Presbytery, President Tsai Ing-wen expressed she is deeply appreciated to PCT’s humble but influential contributions to Taiwan society.

Not only PCT’s early pioneering achievement in mission, medicine and education benefited innumerable Taiwanese men and women, but also her resilient spirit of “burnt yet not consumed”(reminiscent of Moses’ burning bush in Exodus) proclaiming love and justice in Taiwan’s early democratic movement encouraged Taiwan marching toward a free and democracy country beyond doubt, President Tsai said to the audience during her visits.

Accompanied by Rev Tsai Cheng-dao, chairman of Taiwan Church Press(TCP), and Rev Fang Lan-ting, president of TCP, President Tsai personally experienced how the first printing machine in Taiwan is operated. She also manually printed out “Ping-An”(peace) and “Fu”(blessing) for Taiwan’s church and people.

As Taiwan’s President, Dr Tsai says she is very thankful to what PCT have served to Taiwan in the long run over 150 years. And, following such PCT’s spirit, she pledges to lead Taiwan in a right way with love and justice.
