Three Innocent Children Drowned Together With Their Despaired Mother

Reported by Hung Tai-yang

For an unknown reason, maybe due to psychological distress, despair or economical pressure, the bodies of a 30-year-old pregnant woman carrying a two-month-old baby together with her 4-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter were found afloat under the Tong-San bridge near Nan-Tou City, Central Taiwan, in the afternoon on March 31.

This shocking news was immediately broadcast on the major news outlets, calling Taiwan society to seek and search why three innocent toddlers, one was even not yet delivered, had to be taken away by her mother’s tragic decision.

Just as important as our efforts to combat the coronavirus pandemic, Mr Wang Chin-dung, director of Southern Taichung Office of Taiwan Fund for Children and Families, urged Taiwan society to care for these families exposed to high-risk causes, including pressures from psychological, psychiatric, economical or financial factors.

Unless we could efficiently cooperate with the government to locate these high-risky families, patiently relate with them and try to help them walk out of their closed relationships with diverse methods, the heartbroken tragedies would not stop to show up again in our society, Mr Wang stressed.
